To combat these challenges, the Indian government, in collaboration with various non-governmental organizations (NGOs), has initiated several programs and schemes aimed at protecting children and ensuring their safety.

Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS):

Launched in 2009, the ICPS is a comprehensive program that aims to create a protective environment for children in need of care and protection, as well as children in conflict with the law. The scheme provides preventive, statutory, and rehabilitative services to children and works closely with state governments to implement child protection policies effectively.

POSCO e-Box:

An initiative by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), the POSCO e-Box is an online complaint management system where children or their guardians can report cases of sexual abuse. This platform ensures confidentiality and is a step towards encouraging victims to come forward without fear of stigma or reprisal.

Childline 1098:

A 24-hour toll-free helpline, Childline 1098 is a critical service for children in distress. Operated by Childline India Foundation, this service connects children in need with emergency assistance, counseling, and rescue operations. It has been instrumental in preventing child abuse, rescuing children from exploitative situations, and providing immediate help during emergencies.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP):

This government initiative aims to address the declining child sex ratio and promote the education of girls. It seeks to change societal attitudes towards girls through community-level interventions, and improve access to education and healthcare for girls, thus protecting them from various forms of exploitation and abuse.

National Child Labour Project (NCLP):

The NCLP Scheme aims to rehabilitate child laborers by providing them with education, vocational training, and healthcare. The program also focuses on creating awareness about the evils of child labor and ensuring strict enforcement of child labor laws. Swasthya Slate and Mother and Child Tracking System (MCTS): These initiatives focus on improving maternal and child health by tracking pregnancies, ensuring safe deliveries, and monitoring the health of infants and children. By addressing health issues early, these programs contribute to reducing child mortality and improving the overall well-being of children.
